The Parent Club is the organization, separate from the school district, that acts as the "bank" for the ongoing classes and activities that are so important to AFE. Any money that is collected through fundraisers, donations, or fees is held by the Parent Club until it is needed to pay for classes, books, field trips, scholarships, etc. Ellen Baker and Suzanne Tuescher are currently the president and vice president, and we are looking for someone with computer skills who would like to take over the bookkeeping for the club. AFE has partnered with Staff of Life for a fundraising program for AFE at no cost to you. AFE gets 5% back from Staff if you use Staff of Life Script instead of U.S. dollars or a credit card to pay for your purchases.
AFE gets 5% of every script dollar sold to the AFE Community. AFE makes about $50 profit every week or two with this program! This is a great, easy way to raise money for AFE! Just keep doing your shopping at The Staff of Life...but be sure to use script to pay for your purchases
Funds raised by this program have been used to support many things like:
- Keeping the Resource Center open on Fridays
- The Graduation Lei Project
- Campus Beautification

Book lovers & new readers of all ages — Have you ever used the microwave or mini-fridge in the RC? Scholastic Bonus Points bought these for AFE. When families buy books through Scholastic Book Clubs, AFE BENEFITS! Our school earns bonus points for each item ordered. Scholastic offers great deals on books and software. Check out the catalogs in the Scholastic book box located on top of the bookshelf in the RC (between the sink and the computer table). Ordering is easy. Simply follow the instructions in the manila envelope in the box.
eScrip is a hassle-free way for schools and groups that support children's programs to raise funds through everyday purchases made at eScrip merchants.
eScrip and merchant partners have created a system that rewards eScrip customer loyalty by contributing a percentage of purchases to your chosen group. Parents, teachers, friends and families are encouraged to register their credit, debit and grocery club cards as supporters with the eScrip program. Upon receipt of registration, a percentage of all purchases made at eScrip merchants will be given back to the designated school or group.
- Log on to this page on www.eScrip.com to sign up.
- Type in "Alternative Family Education Parent Club" (the name of our AFE group). Our group number will come up (500007112). Click on the group name and complete your registration. Explanations are on the site.
- Designate your favorite school or children's group to receive contributions.
You can also shop online through the eScrip Online Mall, with a percentage of your purchase going to the AFE eScrip account.
Click on this link to begin at the AFE group. You can "Add" AFE to your groups if you are not already a member. Clicking "Next" then takes you to a "Welcome to the Online Mall" info page, and then clicking "Shop Now" goes to the main Online Mall page where you can select from more than 1000 retail web sites (such as Amazon, Lands End, etc.) that will then give AFE a percentage of any purchases you make with no added cost to you.
Note: To get the savings at Safeway you have to use your club card. This is how they track your purchases. In order to have the money you spend online go to AFE, you must shop through the escrip online mall portal.
Get a Smog Check at the normal price and support our campus at the same time! Stanford Avenue Automotive is giving us their profit on Smog Checks. All you have to do is mention this fundraiser when you get your Smog Check and Mike and Jennifer will direct $20 to AFE.
