AFE Campus

Alternative Family Education (AFE) is an independent home study school provided for kindergarten through twelfth grade students and families who prefer an individualized approach to education, combined with the support of school district resources. See the About AFE page for more information. AFE is part of the Santa Cruz City School District.

Current Announcements

Prom — "Masquerade" is the theme for this year's Small Schools Prom, to be held at Portuguese Hall on Saturday, May 2nd, from 7:30–11:00pm. All AFE high school students are invited to attend. Prom bids are $35 single or $50 pair and will be for sale beginning Tuesday, April 14th. (We are looking for desserts, beverages, chaperones, set-up/clean-up crew, and donations.) Hope to see you there!

The Human Race — AFE will participate in the Community Fundraiser, the Human Race on May 9. We would like to have a large turnout this year. All proceeds benefit AFE.

Talent Sharing at AFE — Friday, May 22. It's time to start seriously planning your act! Take out your guitars, ukeleles, dance routines, jokes, and skits! Mark your calendar and stay tuned for how you can sign up, individually or in groups!

Town Hall Meeting — Wednesday, May 27th, 7–9pm.

AFE Community Council — Our Community Council meets monthly as a liaison between parents and staff to inform and guide decision making, promote family and student needs, and organize family efforts in support of AFE. Our next meeting is on May 5th. All students and family members are welcome!

Student Resource Directory — For the first time, Santa Cruz County youth and parents looking for support have a user-friendly online directory of local resources such as nutrition, mentoring and health.

BSSC has become an affiliate site for Bookshop Santa Cruz. Anything purchased through this BSSC Affiliate link will be credited toward the purchase of new books for our library.
