Alternative Family Education (AFE) is an independent home study school provided for kindergarten through twelfth grade students and families who prefer an individualized approach to education, combined with the support of school district resources.

• Shakespeare Bulb Fundraiser—AFE's Shakespeare Ashland class is selling beautiful, spring flower bulbs such as dahlia, freesia, lilies, and more to raise scholarship funds for students to participate in the Ashland Shakespeare Festival. • Poetry Workshop for the Whole Family—Wednesday, February 10, 3:30–5:30pm. Join poet Patrice Vecchione to write group and individual poems. Patrice has worked with people of all ages and has a gift for helping us find the poet within. All ages welcome, but please sign up in the RC so we have materials for you.
• Benefit Singing Workshop and Concert by Libana for the Branciforte Small Schools Campus, February 18 & 19. For more information, please download this flyer.
• Site Council continues to meet monthly to guide AFE staff with decision making, promote family and student needs, and organize family efforts in support of AFE. We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month, 10:15–11:15am in the textbook room. Our next meeting is February 23.
• The 7th annual Alternative Film Enthusiasts (AFE) Follywood Film Event—February 27, 2010 at 7:00pm in our Multi-purpose Room. There are many ways students and families can participate and be a part of this fun event. See the newsletter for more info.
• Congratulations AFE! — Alternative Family Education Parent Club is one of the Top 200 earning groups nationally in the Safeway 10% Goes Back to Schools Program. Out of the over 40,000 groups that participated, Safeway will contribute an additional $1000 BONUS to Alternative Family Education Parent Club in addition to the $4,148.18 you have earned. • Smog Check Fundraiser — Attention AFE! Get a Smog Check at the normal price and support our campus at the same time! Stanford Avenue Automotive is giving us their profit on Smog Checks. All you have to do is mention this fundraiser when you get your Smog Check and Mike and Jennifer will direct $20 to AFE. Stanford Avenue Automotive is conveniently located right across Water Street from the campus at 110 Stanford Avenue.
